ON SUNDAY A KING!!

Well, one day Trina could not stand up alone if she closed her eyes, or walk in heals because she would fall down, or swing a golf club without falling over.  Then after two girls prayed for her, instantly she can do all of that.  INSTANTLY. Not over time.  She did not take any new drugs.  She did not get hit on the head.  People simply prayed, and now she has not experience any symptoms for the last two years.  Sounds pretty supernatural to me!

1) Guy at the back of the Disneyland parade. There’s a guy who’s job is to dance on the back of the last float of the Disneyland Parade. Here’s a short video I took on my iPhone:

This guy amazed me, and here’s why. For the first time after sitting with our kids and watching the parade go by, my wife and I decided to follow the parade out of the park. For a while we simply walked behind and talked, while listening to the same music, “Step In Time” play over and over. After a little while, my wife told me to look at the dancer on the back of the last float. This guy seemed to have the most energy of the entire cast, and yet was only really seen by the people who were following the parade. In fact when we went between the backside of the castle and the Matterhorn (where there were really no people watching) he seemed to turn it into overdrive for us. We were amazed that though he only had like a 4’x2’ dancing area, how much energy and charisma he brought to us poor tired folk following the parade. I was so impressed with his performance that I told my wife Maribeth, “I’ve got to film that guy and write a blog about him.

Yet that was last week and though it brought us happiness that night and we were completely taken by his performance, I could not completely formulate the blog post in my mind. That takes us to performance # 2.

2) Lacrae. Lacrae is on top of the Christian Hip-Hop scene and is one of the best live musical artists I have seen in my life. First, the energy that he and his backup singer had the entire show was better than most punk bands I have seen in my day. His dancing and jumping around hyped the crowd so much that he had the entire Savemart center moving. His rhymes and beats were not the normal “Christian music” that one would expect. (It’s sad that I even need to write that since if Christians are truly serving the most creative Being in the universe, than they should BE the most creative artists out there!) But Lacrae shows how creative his God has made him with incredible beats. Often when telling someone about him I say, “it doesn’t sound like ‘Christian-Hip-Hop!’”

But here’s the difference between Lacrae and the Disneyland parade dancer: From how Lacrae presented himself on stage to his lyrics, he was glorifying something greater than himself in a way that left me with something more. This is in no way to disrespect the Disneyland dancer! What I loved about the Disneyland dancer was that he gave it his all, even when only a few people were looking, and I will keep that with me for a long time. But the difference with Lacrae was that he brought a message that was straight up good news that brings me much more than mere happiness for a while, but JOY for eternity! And because of that it, will leave a lasting, if not eternal, impression on my life. Lecrae is an artist that brings attention to the One who all creativity flows from!

One thing that Lacrae said that I will hold onto as I go out and perform is, “I do not want to be a celebrity! I aspire to be a hero. For a celebrity seeks the fame for himself, where a hero brings glory to the One it is due!”

Well, our main passion in this life is helping open the eyes of people who do not know about the real supernatural.  So we are moving away from the “Bible-Belt” of Central California to Europe where the thought of believing in God for the average person is equated with believing in Santa Clause and Unicorns.  Check out these two videos to understand better.

So, mostly this blog will be about magic, the real supernatural, and things that might pertain to my life.  HOWEVER, I wanted to share something completely unrelated from all that.  I remember seeing a video a few years ago called Invisible Children.  It rocked me to my core!  I could not believe the world would allow such an injustice to happen without doing anything.  The organization that started it has been working to stop Joseph Kony from doing all the horrific things he is doing.

So this year, 2012, they are trying to get people to care and therefore make Joseph Kony and the terrible things he does a household name and issue.  I have two beautiful children.  How can I say I love them as much as I do, yet not care about the African children that are falling prey to this inhuman man’s desires!  Please watch this video and join the movement:

Last January, my wife and I made a trip to Paris, France, to look into moving there. While there, we had the delight of eating escargot.  For those of you who are not familiar with the term it means snails.  As an american, this honestly sounded repulsive to me…but the french are known for their food, and my wife and I are always up for a new food experience, so we went for it.

The texture was what one would expect, slippery and like a thick gummy.  The taste was very good, granted anything with that much butter and garlic and herbs has to be good!

Verdict?  Not  horrible, but not sure when I’ll order it again on my own accord.

In the search of the real supernatural I think a good look at hypnotism is needed.

Webster defines hypnosis:

“A trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject.”

Some people are mesmerized by hypnotism; some people are scared of it, while some are very skeptical.   As always, with all things in this field, I fall into the third category.  I have seen a few stage hypnotism acts, and in fact have been one of the people on stage squawking like a chicken or whatever else the hypnotist asked me to do.   I have read books and watched videos on how to hypnotize people, and I can say without reservation, it’s all an illusion!

Skeptic and magician James Randi says about hypnotism that it is “An agreement between an operator and a subject to fantasize together.”  Basically it is someone who can get others to do what they ask them to.  In a stage setting the hypnotist is a party director, and people allow themselves to drop their inhibitions in the name of fun.

How hypnotism works is first people are pre-conditioned to do something or allow something to happen. “You’ll be in a very relaxed state and be able to imagine whatever I’m talking about.”  This often happens without the hypnotist even having to say it because people expect that when going to see a show.  Then people are “put under” or allow themselves to accept whatever is told them with a drone noise.  This can be an actual sound, or can simply be the hypnotist speaking in a very melodic speech rhythm that allows people to relax.  Finally, the hypnotist makes suggetions that people can choose to accept or decline.  In a stage hypnotism setting there is a lot of pressure to accept every suggestion, for every suggestion accepted is encouraged by laughter from the audience and if too many suggestions are declined the person will be sent back to their seat.

So what do this have to do with Jesus?  Often in the Christian church I have seen hypnotism tactics used, but credit given to the Holy Spirit.  People falling over uncontrollably, people acting drunk, and people laughing uncontrollably.  Now am I saying that anytime this happens it is simply hypnotism? NO!  I have personally seen people do all of these things in a way that could have only been brought about by the Holy Spirit.  (Often in a very un-showy way)  But when I see people like Benny Hinn and the like making people fall over left and right I highly doubt it is by the Holy Spirit.  In fact if you truly look into these types of assemblies, you can clearly see hypnotism taking place.

If you get to go up on stage you know that everyone who goes up there falls over. (or get’s “slain in the Spirit”) You are pre-conditioned that to have a full experience with God means you will fall down when the evangelist or faith healer touches you.  They have catchers behind you communicating that it is ok to fall.  The music during the whole assembly is very repetitive and drone like.  Finally, when the evangelist touches or motions at you, wanting so desperately to experience God, you fall over.  Did you truly meet God?  I don’t know. But I can tell you that there were a lot of other factors (including adrenaline) at play.

If you are truly in search of the real supernatural don’t let these hypnotizing fakes fool you!

One cool thing after the show, 11 people from the show tonight choose to put their trust and faith into a relationship with the Real Supernatural!

One of my daughter’s favorite games is to pretend she’s a princess and that daddy is the king or that she’s Tinkerbell and that daddy is Captain Hook (and that brother is Peter Pan and that leaves mommy as the Wendy Lady).  I so look forward to the multiple times a day that she comes and gives me a big hug and says, “I lowve you Cap-in Hook!” to which she expects the reply, “I love you too Tinkerbell!”  Because of this it was my wife and I’s extreme delight to take her to meet Tinkerbell and a bunch of princesses at the Happiest Place on Earth…DISNEYLAND.
